I pop out my head then run and hide. Where I'm alone. Where I'm alone. Pass up nights with friends to stay inside. My room I roam. My room I roam. 'Cause I don't like to show my face around. 'Cause I'm afraid I'll let some people down. Cut myself off from my family. Avoid the phone. Avoid the phone. Frightened by the things that they might see. I can't go home. I can't go home. 'Cause I don't like to show my face around. 'Cause I'm afraid I'll let some people down. So, I just crawl back in my world of sound. I'm safe in sound. When I'm forced to go outside I may even look you in the eye (I've taken time and learned to play the role). You'll probably think that I'm okay. As an actor, I'm Olivier. Still, inside the monster's taking hold. Drag myself onstage and face my fear that I have no clothes. I have no clothes. Sometimes I pretend that you're not here. My eyes are closed. My eyes are closed. 'Cause I don't like to show my face around. 'Cause I'm afraid I'll let you people down. So, I just crawl back in my world of sound. I'm safe in sound. I'm safe in sound.

From the second that we met it took a minute to sink in. How the hours with you would fly by, now the days without begin to pass like weeks. How weak do you want me? You can make me wait a month. You can make wait a year. If you want, I'll wait until the next millennium is here. But, on second thought: Sooner would be better.

Shine 03:43
Wake. Give your bleary head a shake. Re-negotiate your clock for time. Then, clear your mind and Rise. Brush the sleepdust from your eyes. Take a shower to return you to the waking you that Shines. Like the day you're going to shine. Drive. Watch the streets become alive with the restless souls who, just like you, are heading to their Job. The part of every day that's robbed. The million checklists that you have to do to make it through to Shine. Like the day you're going to shine. Every day has got a pearl inside, so take the ride and Shine. You're okay. It's alright. Your nightmare's over. Shine.

about

This is a homemade record. A solo (guitar and vox) album of covers and originals, recorded at home on a 1960s Concord reel-to-reel 1/4 inch mono tape recorder, model Transistorized 220.

This was only available as a giveaway cd at Jim's 11.24.01 show at The Point. Approx. 120 made.

The original email sent out to promote the show and album giveaway:

The Point - Bryn Mawr, PA - 11.24.01

Hello Again Friends,

I am very pleased to announce that I am returning to the Point in Bryn Mawr, PA for another show. The date is Saturday 11.24.01. The time is 9p. THIS IS AN ALL AGES SHOW (I'll be 27).

My last show there was one of the highlights of my year so far and a huge success. One of the reasons for that success, I believe, is that I offered a bribe, er, incentive to those buying tickets in advance.

So, let's try that again!

For those of you who buy tickets by next Wednesday (that's the day before Thanksgiving, folks) either at the Point or through www.ticketweb.com I offer the following:

TRANSISTORIZED 220
A brand new CD with a decidedly un brand new sound. Thanks to 1960s recording technology (recently purchased at the Salvation Army for $30), Fidelity is no longer the Enemy, it's my prisoner! Hear me recorded the way I've always dreamed, like an old Alan Lomax Library of Congress recording from the 30s. Features new compositions such as 'Show My Face Around' and 'Shine' unavailable anywhere else, plus the songs I sing for myself in my bedroom. Why would you NOT want to own this? It's FREE (sort of)

AND AVAILABLE AS A ONE TIME ONLY GIVEAWAY.

Oh, and the show will be great, too. I'm being joined by a couple of the Jim Boggia Quintet and opening up is Cliff Hillis, who you may know from the John Faye Power Trip, or Starbelly (or Cliff Hillis).

The show is BYOB, and BYOLOT (Bring Your Own Left Over Turkey).

Tix available in advance at the Point or on the web at www.ticketweb.com (order by 11.21.01 to receive a FREE copy of 'Transistorized 220').

C'mon, come to this show.

Peace,
Jim

Also, I AM NOT PLAYING AT THE TIN ANGEL ON THE 23RD! Despite what you may have read. DON'T BE FOOLED! You can see Kevin Hanson and Ben Arnold there on the 23rd. And then see me at the Point on the 24th.
