lyrics

My older sister used to spend all of her time
listening to 8Tracks.
She had a plastic Panasonic
that she carried in her backpack.

'Fresh as a Daisy' was her favorite song.
She taught me the words and we'd sing along.
We always had a lot of fun
listening to records on the 8Track.

Sometimes the way the music played it came out different on the 8Track.
They did a lot of crazy things to make the record
fit the format.

They'd move songs around to do the math.
Sometimes they'd even cut the songs in half.
But even so, the way my sister always listened
was on 8Track.

And we'd sing: "Ooh la la la. Ooh la la la.
Ooh la la la. Ooh la la la."

We'd start it off on Program 1
then Program 2
then Program 3
then Program 4
and then it STOPPED!

. . .

. . .

PRESS FAST FORWARD!!!!

I made this whole thing up - I was too young.
But still, it seems like it was lots of fun.
I know I missed out on a lot
because I never had an 8Track.

(I don't even have a sister.)

Who's making that racket?

Pete Donnelly rocked. Matty Muir rocked, Mike Frank rocked. They did this on bass, drums/maracas (maROCKas?) and piano, respectively. Charlotte Brereton rocked (in the role of my fictitious sister, when we'd sing "ooh la la la"). John McBurnie, Nadia Mulder, Serena Evans and Kelly Kurz all expressed extreme displeasure when encountering the inevitable blank tape at the end of Program Four (it shouldn't have to be mentioned at this point that they did so in a way that rocked). Flicker suggested the idea of flanging the guitars on the sustained chord just before the piano solo and though it is true that this rocked, you should also be aware that Flicker was ALWAYS suggesting flanging SOMETHING, and it was really just a matter of time before the odds went over in his favor. He also has ideas about making a microphone "sound like it's in a studio in Jamaica" that you might not want to accept at face value, either. I played electric guitars, sang, engaged in right (correction: left) channel plausible denial (sorry mono listeners) and paid tribute to 'Legs' Larry Smith after the song was over (Adam, your cell phone ring does not rock).
