I wrote all but three lines of this song in my sleep, which seems to indicate that I should stay in bed more.

Happy, upbeat songs seem to get short shrift a lot of times from people, dismissed because there's nothing dark and tortured, but I've always thought that music should explore and evoke all emotions, not just some. Plus, it's actually harder in some ways to write a good song about positive emotions.

Jill Sobule does the groovy mod harmonies and I can’t listen to this song without Butch’s (from the Eels) drumming putting a smile on my face.

This isn’t one of those songs written in response to something
that you’ve done.
I used to do that all the time back when I was with such a
bit-ter one.

Back then, my head was filled with quite a lot of rage.
I’d take my anger and I’d throw it on the page.
But since we’ve met my anger's faded out of view.

I used to spend a lot of time thinking about the way things
might have been.
That kind of thing often inspired me to sit down with paper
and a pen.

But now the only thing I ever want to do
is spend every moment I can being with you.
And now I never write - I’m too blissed-out to try.
Because of you my well has run dry.

I know it’s wrong of me to ask you for a favor
because all you ever do is make me smile.
But the label wants a single and I haven’t got a thing will you please
try to piss me off once in a while?
