about

The answer to this musical question was far too often “my house.” Almost everybody likes a good party now and then (even the Amish throw down on occasion), but this is about watching life tell friends that things were way out of balance and them not getting the message.

Aimee Mann graciously added her voice to the teeming throng of party petitioners.

lyrics

Where were you last night? ‘Cuase we had a ball.
At least from what I recall.
We all went to Sean’s. The mood was just right.
His whole place is lit by candlelight.

He says he doesn’t have the bread to pay the bill to keep the lights on.
But then I watch him give mthat guy some money for a bag of blow.

Hey, where’s the party?
Let’s get together with the crew. We don’t start ‘til after 2.
And we’re still going strong by 9. So get in line for your next line.

Did you hear the news? That Dan lost his mind.
He did it up big this time.
Thrown out of our spot. He threw punches at Scott.
And then he fucked up Lee’s car.

Reminds me of the time that Nora did too much and kicked the door in.
A lotta paronoia - watch it, boy you’re gonna lose your friends.

Hey, where’s the party?
Let’s get together with the crew. We don’t start ‘til after 2.
And we’re still going strong by 9. We tell ourselves we’re doing fine.
Yeah, we’re all doing fine.

A lot of us would rather play at Rock Star than to work to be one.
A lot of talent wasted. Getting wasted then just wasting time.

Hey, where’s the party?
Let’s get together with the crew. We don’t start ‘til after 2.
And we’re still going strong by 9. And it’s exactly like last time.

Where were you last night? ‘Cuase we had a ball.
At least from what I can recall.
