Inspired by a screenplay by Scott Lazar. Most of our interactions with people ride on the surface of superficiality. In the same way, most of our time is spent engaged in activities that don't come near to things that will matter in the long run. Scott's created a group of characters in their twenties who are just waking up to those realizations.
I’m always a sucker for a melancholic waltz. Julian Coryell plays tic-tac bass like he’s Carol Kaye.
lyrics
One more empty exchange
where we fail to connect.
Everyone endlessly
spinning their wheels as we
talk about the weather.
As though we’ll have forever.
As if our time’s not racing by.
One more year of our lives
lost to fits and starts.
Throwing our days away,
lost like our breath when we
talk about the weather.
We think we have forever.
But all the while time’s racing by.
We’re so devil-may-care.
Wasting time - unaware.
Until it’s one less day in our lives.
Our regret realised
too late - we’ve spent our lives
talking ‘ bout the weather.
We thought we’d have forever.
But now we find time’s passed us by.
(Bye bye.)
